Sean’s House is a mental health safe haven for young adults ages 14-24, created by the local non-profit SL24: Unlocke the Light. We promote our guests’ mental wellness by providing access to trained peer support specialists and assistance connecting with community mental health resources, as well as by providing space for guests to do schoolwork, relax with friends, or simply pick up a hot cup of coffee. It is our hope to reduce the rate of youth suicide by providing a place for young adults to feel safe, welcomed, and supported.

Free services are available to young adults to talk about mental health or substance use challenges with Peer Specialists who have lived experience with similar challenges.  Our Peer Support Specialists are trained to have open and honest conversations about mental health to reduce stigma, motivate young adults, and promote hope throughout recovery.

Peer support builds upon a foundation of trust and compatibility. Peers provide non-clinical, strengths-based support and are “experientially credentialled” by their own recovery journey (Davidson et al., 1999). The Peer Specialists who staff Sean’s House play an essential role in unlocking students’ lights by providing resources and support for those struggling and seeking help.

Trouble Parking?

Sean’s House parking is behind the house and not directly accessible from our street address. Set your GPS to 28 New London Rd (a UD facilities building) and turn LEFT instead of right when you arrive. Our parking lot is marked by a yellow and teal fire hydrant. If you see our white fence and garage, you’ve made it!

If the parking lot is full, we suggest using the paid street parking on New London Rd or, if you are able to use university parking, you might prefer to park at Trabant Parking Garage just a couple minutes walk away.
